Bio
FACTS: circa 2002 - nascent indie-electro-rap ingénue Kristy G is set to implode the white rap world with DJ Shitbird and the Ultimate Party Machine. San Francisco scene curmudgeon George Chen is left without a band since the dissolution of both Boxleitner and Sobretooth (a straight edge band with Nate Denver). Steve has already touched down at Oakland warehouse palace Club Hot and VC, much like an electron, is said to be everywhere at once and only tracked by his trace particles. Scientists are not paid enough to divine this information. All four parties converge at a Friends Forever show that summer where a semi-serious suggestion, "we should all start a band!" is taken to heart on the drive home. Practices ensue and two practices later, a first show.
Shortly thereafter, a 5 song recording which eventually makes its way onto a split 7 inch with Wives followed by a west coast tour and nascent stardom. A split 7 inch with rising San Francisco godfathers Deerhoof emerges on a nefarious New York imprint. Solo projects abound, KIT is relegated to a theoretical possibility while life is otherwise lived.
Late 2004 reconvenes a new configuration of the group with VC moved to drums from the bass, and George swapped from drums to the guitar. The songs are different, longer and the energy is not all spent in the first 30 seconds of each performance. They play their first show in this formation at a house party in Oakland with Japanther, Foot Village, Battleship, and Lakes. They vow to only play all ages show from here on out. The west coast is their litter box, and another 7 inch comes out (one per year), this time a split with Los Angeles mavens Rose for Bodhan. Their other bands do lots of other shit too. An album is recorded painstakingly over the course of a year. This record is 'Broken Voyage'. Next came a split 7" with Mirror/Dash in 2008. Another EP is in the works as well as a split with David Copperfuck.
